Congratulations to the STHAs 12U, 16U and 18U Tournament bound teams for qualifying to represent the Central Section in the upcoming New York State Tier II Tournament! The STHA is the only Tier II organization in Central Section to place more than one team into the State Tournament.  16U finished first in the Central Section and 12U and 18U finished second. This is a huge accomplishment, and all the players, families and coaches should take pride in what they have achieved!

The State Tournaments will be held in Buffalo on April 16-18 for 16U/18U and April 23-25 for 12U.  The Tournament takes the top two seeds from each of the four Sections in New York State (Central, East, North, and West) to name a State Champion.

12U

The 12U team is coached by Vinnie Polacek, with assistant coaches Rich Schappert, Jeremy Maus, Dave Adams and Darin Lewis, and is managed by Amy Polacek.  The roster includes Chase Adams, Larkin Bianco, Troy Ehrie, John Figueroa, Josh Landers, Ryan Lewis, Max Lisio, Mason Little, Bauer Maus, Finn Newton-McManus, Donovin Perhach, Colby Polacek, Ryan Schappert, Adam Spisak, Dylan Terrell and Carson Travis.

The team finished up the Qualifying game schedule with a 5-1-2 record and has clinched second place in the Central Section behind Camillus.  Coach Polacek has been extremely impressed with the team’s commitment to work hard in practice throughout the year despite the uncertainty in whether there would even be a season.

16U

The 16U team is coached by Piero Lisio, with assistant coaches Tom Ehrie and Rob Mulesky.  The roster includes Connor Adams, Joe Augostini, Jake Behonick, Patrick Carlton, Brock Carter, Nico DiRigo, Ethan DuBrava, Tristan Ehrie, Jonathan Gregory, Dominic Lisio, Michael Lombardi, John Maus, Matt McHugh, Cade Mulesky, Evan Myers, Colin Perney and Justin Wardell.

The team finished first in Central Section with a 7-2-1 record including late season wins against New Hartford and Lysander to seal their championship and their berth to States.  Coach Lisio is proud of the way this team handled challenges and adversity overcoming a 1-2 start to go on and finish first in the Section!

18U

The 18U team is coached by Brian Morgan, with assistant coaches Tim Labosky, Kevin Moore and Nick Moore, and is managed by Bill King.  The roster includes Cole Abbott, Matthew Beach, Aleksander Conrad, Tyler Farr, Cameron Fuller, Tanner Gates, Austin Hand, Will King, Alek Labosky, Nick Labosky, Dawson McAvoy, Jon Morgan, Maverick Rudolph, Broc Sherwood, Tyler Smith, Ryan Symons and Bryant Weingartner.

The team finished a great Qualifying game season in second place, with their only losses coming to Clinton, who finished first.  A couple of weeks ago, the team also won a tournament championship, where they came out strong in the Championship game to beat the team that they had lost to the night before.  Coach Morgan used the loss the night before as a learning moment on the importance of focus…and they will be taking that lesson with them to the State tournament!
